Georgia Chamber Names Legislators of the Year

Education: Degree in political science from the University of Georgia
Civic Activities: McEachern United Methodist Church, Parent-Teacher Association, Cobb County Youth Soccer Association and Oregon Park Baseball Association. He served on the Powder Springs Downtown Development Association and acts as an honorary fire safety commissioner.
Business Success: Ehrhart was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1988 and is now serving his third term as minority whip. He's a member of the Rules, Insurance, Banks and Banking, and Ethics committees. His stance on affirmative action was the subject of a feature article in The Economist, and his views have been aired on CNN and quoted in The New York Times, among other news outlets. Ehrhart co-founded a small marble and granite subcontracting business and, over a 14-year period, built it into a $1 million-grossing concern with 21 employees. He now works as senior vice president of The Facility Group Inc., an architectural/engineering firm in Smyrna.
